Call for Contributions

Autumn Meeting of the SIG
Philosophy and Informatics

Ulm (Germany), 19. October 2004

Topics

The autumn meeting is a regular work meeting of the SIG "Philosophy and Informatics". We are looking for contributions addressing the following aspects of knowledge, in order to deepening our discussion started at the Workshop in Cologne:

  • Thinking ("Denken") vs. knowledge ("Wissen")
  • Function vs. process vs. result
  • Associative vs. structural thinking
  • Tacit vs. implicit knowledge
  • Capabilities ("Fertigkeiten") vs. abilitities ("Fähigkeiten")

Submissions

Submission languages are English and German. The meeting will be held in English

The meeting solicits statements of interest (SOI) of about one or two pages in length. There will be no review process. It is intended to make the SOIs available at the SIG's website prior to the meeting.

SOI authors are strongly encouraged to use LaTeX and the Springer llncs class files available at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html. There is also a Word template available at the Springer website.

Please, e-mail a PDF version of your SOI to Thomas.Roth-Berghofer@dfki.uni-kl.de and do not hesitate to contact him for questions.

Video Conference

The main part of the autumn meeting will be organized as a video conference so that SIG participants from abroad can attend the meeting by means of telecommunication. All those participants from abroad should inform Thilo Deussen directly by e-mail (see below) that they want to participate in the video conference and in order to get further instructions.
